Puppy walking

An adventure in looking after a puppy until it is old enough to be properly trained as a guide dog for the blind.

I checked the mail yesterday and there was Rockwell's next quarterly update!
Still not ready for prime time but doing well. It sounds like his trainer really likes him and I am happy about that too.

Hmm..."fascination with things blowing in the wind"...LOL....

I'm so glad to hear he's enjoying his training!

I'm more relieved than glad I think, to know he's still in the program, especially since he turned TWO years old in June! Peter had a funny thought about him being "under-employed" - maybe he'll put it in the comments.

I smiled at the "blowing in the wind" distraction too...I think it's sweet he still has some puppy in him, even though he's got responsibilities now.

There's a man who works in my office building and he has a guide dog (a poodle). His dog seems to break quite a few of the guide-dog rules, but his owner doesn't seem to mind too much.

Zoom, I too have seen guide dogs that seem to break the rules. As long as their owner doesn't mind, it's all good. But I have also seen a frustrated owner trying to correct his dog and that hurts. As one who has been frustrated, I sympathize but it still pains me to watch. I understand that our Guide Dogs out in Manotick works really hard to pair the dog's personality with its new owner so I am happy about that.
