Puppy walking

An adventure in looking after a puppy until it is old enough to be properly trained as a guide dog for the blind.

Nothing to blog lately so I’ll just post about the Kong. Rocky was sitting on the landing, chewing his smaller Kong. When he let it go, it bounced down the stairs and then turned right down the hallway toward the front door. I heard it bouncing erratically and suddenly, I heard it go plop! right into Rocky’s water bowl, which is around yet another corner at the front door! We went to inspect it and sure enough, it was soaking in the bowl. It’s about 10 feet to the end of the hallway before you step down into the postage stamp sized “foyer” (I have to put that in quotes, it is so small). And then make a right to Rocky’s bowl. Amazing (like the Grand Canyon, yes, I know).

Ah, the magic of the Kong!

Since I live in an apartment without a yard, I often take Lomax downstairs to the gated parking garage for a spirited game of "Kong Ball." This is a fine way to "get his wiggles out," and running on the concrete does wonders in the toenail-filing department!

But mostly, I've also found that when we play with the Kong indoors, it does tend to end up in the water dish. Funny that it happened to you too, and in such a roundabout manner!

Did Rocky rescue his smaller Kong, or leave it to soak? I have NEVER seen a dog sit on stairs like Rocky does - quite remarkable. (I nearly said 'amazing', but am being careful now). "Brilliant' is another word often used in, what appears to be, poor context. Diamons are brilliant. Can a weekend be brilliant? Perhaps a performance can?

(Interestingly Jenny, your comment didn't come by email and I only saw it when I came here to check the second comment. Weird). That sounds like a great game. I haven’t found a nice big open area that is totally fenced yet, for Rocky to get the wiggles out. Actually, it’s when I over-tire him that he does the mad dog thing. Uma’s Kong ended up in the water dish on more than one occasion too! Once while my mother was here alone with Uma, she said she heard the King Kong go bouncing down all the stairs and into the basement. Uma never went down the basement stairs after she slipped and fell all the way to the bottom on their shiny wood surface. So Uma stood at the top of the basement stairs and moaned and Mum went down to look. She couldn’t find it. A few days later, I was doing laundry in the basement and I found the Kong behind the laundry room door! This was an even more amazing spot to end up in, if you knew the layout of the house.

Muffy! Welcome to comments! I fear that Rocky may not be able to sit on the stairs like that when he gets bigger. His bum is small enough to fit on a step now and he is very bendy (I know, it’s flexible but bendy is cuter) but when he gets up over 80 pounds, it may not work so well. As far as “brilliant” goes, the Brits love that word and do use it as a modifier for many situations. I heard it all the time during the year I lived in London. Over here however, it has a more exotic feel so you should be able to get away with using it whenever you like. I think having an exotic accent would help too. Since I haven’t met you, I don’t know if you have an accent?

Oh poo, I forgot to say, no Rocky didn't rescue the Kong, I did. I thought if he fished it out of the water, water would get everywhere.

And one more! Jenny, unfortunately my Mac thought your emaill was "junk" and that's where it ended up. Sorry! Maybe it's the number. At least it stays in junk for 24 hours before deleting so I was able to see it there. Not that it matters because it is on the blog anyway.

Can I not edit my own comments? This is frustrating.

Maybe you should bring Rocky to go play a game of Roulette. :)

Rocky is the second of only two doggies we know that sits on stairs like that. Boogie the Beagle of http://www.sunkistboogie.blogspot.com being the other.

Thanks for sharing!

Hmm FurKids, I hadn’t thought of using Rocky as a good luck charm. Maybe when he is a little better behaved, we might take him to the casino at Lac Leamy. We’ve never been so it might be a good excuse to go. http://www.casino-du-lac-leamy.com/accueil_ch.jsp?Params=Y.US.1.0
