This morning, we started switching Rockwell over to adult dog food. He was weighed while he was away and he now tips the scales at 70 pounds! They say that’s probably going to be his ideal adult weight so we will try to maintain that. Since we only feed him dog food and since we measure it, weight gain should not be a problem.
The switching schedule lasts two weeks! Who’d have thought? This morning I gave him half a cup of the adult food and one and a half cups of the puppy chow. I didn’t think he’d notice but he ate it a bit slower than usual. He didn’t pause or sniff at it or look at it but he was slower. Now he has crashed out again in the hallway so I think I’ll make our morning walk a little shorter than usual.
This photo is from last night, when I discovered him twisted up like a pretzel, sleeping in the hall.

Yikes! Rockwell outweighs Lomax, who at 19 months of age is a diminutive yet energetic and power-packed 65 pounds....
Hahaha - WHO SLEEPS LIKE THAT?!!?!
Huskies sleep in some wierd positions, but even I have to say - that looks really uncomfortable!
oh man I wish I had it that easy........BOsco only eats dog food and it is measured out and he grew to a Shaq size of 99 lbs.....we are trimming him down (currently a slimmer 90lbs) but yes the vet said ideally in the 70s. Bosco has not been in the 70s since his young days of 10 months. Anyways good luck with Rockwell.
Sorry long time no blog!
Rockwell looks so uncomfortable, yet so cute in that position!
Thank you, and Rockwell for the smile!
Jenny, Lomax may be only 65 pounds but that is a great size for a guide dog. Plus he is perfectly proportioned so he is SO good lookin'!
SSDWinston, Rockwell sleeps in the oddest positions. As he gets older and less flexible, I suppose he won't twist up like that.
Indy, he didn't stay in that pose for long.
MFax, wow. 99 pounds of Lab! He may look at you pathetically while you diet him down but he'll be happier in the long run.
FurKids, welcome back! Glad you enjoyed the pix.
